1. Acceptance of Terms
By using PlainLetter (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of the Service
PlainLetter is an automated tool that generates a plain-English explanation of a letter or notice from a supported U.S. government agency, based on a document you upload. Supported agencies are listed on our homepage and may change over time. The Service does not require an account.
3. Not Legal, Tax, Financial, or Medical Advice
The Service provides general, informational explanations only. It does not provide legal, tax, financial, or medical advice, and does not create an attorney-client, tax-preparer, or other professional relationship. You are responsible for verifying any information important to your situation directly with the relevant agency or a licensed professional.
4. Immigration Letters Are Not Supported
The Service will not process or interpret immigration or USCIS-related letters, under any circumstances, regardless of what you upload or request. If you upload such a letter, the Service will decline to process it and will not charge you.
5. Eligibility and Acceptable Use
You may not use the Service to:
- Upload documents that are not your own or that you don't have the right to share
- Attempt to bypass, manipulate, or interfere with the Service's classification, payment, or safety systems
- Upload content that is unlawful, abusive, or unrelated to a genuine government letter for the purpose of disrupting or testing the Service at scale
- Use automated means (bots, scripts) to access the Service outside of normal individual use
We may limit, rate-limit, or block access for anyone we reasonably believe is violating these Terms.
6. Payment and Refunds
The Service is pay-per-letter. The current price is shown before you are asked to pay. Payment is only requested after the uploaded document has been confirmed as an in-scope, supported letter. If you believe you were charged in error, or the explanation you received does not correspond to the letter you uploaded, contact us at support@myplainletter.com and we will review your request.
7. Accuracy and Limitations
The Service uses automated (AI-based) analysis and is designed to avoid guessing at information not present in your letter. However, it may still make mistakes, particularly with unclear, low-quality, or unusual documents. The Service is provided "as is," and outputs should be independently verified before you rely on them for any important decision.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service, its design, and its underlying technology are owned by PlainLetter. You retain ownership of any document you upload. You grant us a limited, temporary right to process your uploaded document solely to generate your explanation; this right ends once the explanation has been generated and delivered, consistent with our Privacy Policy.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PlainLetter and its owners, employees, and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to reliance on an inaccurate or incomplete explanation. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the letter in question.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which PlainLetter is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
